Southwest Prehistoric Pottery Replicas
Every Piece is a replica of an actual
prehistoric vessel from a museum or other collection.
We make them the same
way the experts did.

n every aspect of the pottery making process we duplicate the materials and
methods of the original artisans. Our clays are obtained from the clay beds native to the
cultures represented, and we use authentic tools and methods to create the pieces. Our
paints are derived from plants and minerals occurring naturally in the Southwest, and
firing is done in open wood fires. These designs come from ancient peoples who once made
their home in the Southwest... the Anasazi, Hohokam, Mogollon, Mimbres, Fremont, and
others. Each is a limited edition Legend in Clay.
"Our aim is not
only for the piece to look like the original, but to feel like it and be like it
in every way possible."
Pottery styles, shapes and
sizes are inspired by 15 years of study of authentic pieces found in museums,
private collections and books. All of these factors, plus the talent and
commitment of the artists, add up to a final product which one noted Southwest
Archaeologist called, "not only a work of art, but close to a forgery."
