# G38 "Lunar Eclipse " A.D. 1250 Site: Mimbres Valley, New Mexico Collection: Private Limited Edition of 10. Issue Price
$200.00 Current Price $275.00
Historical Note: This bowl is a representation of a lunar eclipse. The rabbit is the ancient symbol of the Anasazi representing the moon. If one looks at a full moon you will see a up-side-down rabbit. In Mesoamerica the moon symbol was the Crain. In this bowl we see the Crain tearing the rabbit apart, the Crain's Brest is shadowed with cross hatches giving the appearance of a shadow covering half the moon. A ancient Maya bowl was found with the same image and glyphs around the edge of the bowl telling the story of the moon turning dark.
