Historical Note:  

This Mimbres Ceremonial bowl features a story of a group of people casting votes for the fate of the young lady in the basket.  The vote is 6 to 2 as indicated by the raising of the right or left hand.  The man next to the lady in the basket is counting the votes and has two fingers held up indicating the count of the left hand votes.  Now with the votes cast....what is the fate of the women in the basket?
